Never seen anything/much about it but they're basically on my doorstep so does anyone know much about riding in the Wolds? I'm not expecting gnarly, tech descents but if anyone has any nice XC type rides with a few fun bits, that'd be great!
Love riding the Wolds although it’s much better when we’ve had a good dry spell. Did the Wetwang Wobble a few weeks ago, I will see if I can workout how to post a link.
Think it was about 30 odd miles and hardly saw a soul all day.
Whereabouts in the Wolds? It's a big area. I ride in the southern bit near Hull, you can string a pleasant ride together though it does tend to involve some footpaths.
There’s an old book by a guy called J. Brian. Beadle that has lots of Wolds rides in it, trouble is I’ve lost mine and can’t find another one.
Wolds rider here , bit higher up and inland from Bridlington, I've got the Wetwang wobble to ride in the next few weeks as well .... mainly ride road and gravel .... only issue I have since moving up here is the bloody wind ! ... always a head wind as well , still love living up here though 🙂
Wolds rider here too!
Moved from the white peak, Derbyshire eighteen months ago.unreal place but agree it's windy AF! 😂
Semi - Thread hijack... We are coming to stay in Rudston for a weekend at the end of September - can anyome local suggest a decent XC loop?
Sorry but it’s crap - field edge, very few circular routes without long road connections. Get a road bike, it’s great for that but forget any good mtb rides!

This. I'm debating getting rid of my old(ish) MTB and road bike and just getting a gravel bike. There's nothing exciting off road round here without getting the car and going somewhere first.

Cheers - think thats been my gut feel from looking at maps. The area I'm looking at specifically is the western edges, accessible from the Stamford Bridge and Pocklington roads but there just seems to be the odd by of BW that just ends with seemingly miles of road.

As has been said the southern end is best running from around welton over to South Cave. Its old school xc really and now better suited to a gravel bike. It is a beautiful place to ride a bike with big skies and rolling hills and very quiet too.

Pretty sure I ran up that hill on Sunday @dukeduvet.
There's some fun singletrack and cheeky built stuff in the Melton / South Cave area if you know where to look for it. Not to mention Scout Wood Rampage (which is way above my pay grade, and I've not been in there for years).
Don't know of much around Pocklington way though, we looked at some houses up there and it looked pretty limited tbh.
Rode yearsley woods last year ehich had some good stuff in it. Got some great advice from people on here. Padded the ride out with a pedal to Hovingham and back for lunch which I took on flat gravel tracks. Got chatting to a nice local who said he could get to Malton all off road but again I can imagine that's pretty flat too.

Rudston , is the next village from where I live about 3 miles, what you looking for as not much mtb stuff , there's a few bridle ways i link up for a loop etc, more suited to a gravel bike but can ride the mtb if u want too ? ... drop us a pm and ill sort a route out 🙂 .... Or head to Dalby forest , 20 odd miles away and loads there , gravel or mtb

Yeh, Yearsley I'm familiar with but its not exactly the Wolds 😉
