I am moving back to the UK in a few months and need to get on my bikes as ASAP. A part from learning to ride on the other side of the road, figuring out roundabouts etcetera, what else should I do. I presume a club is a good place to start, but have heard they can be hard work too. Do I need any type of insurance?
So any practical tips or any " how to survive a club ride" advice welcome.
P.S. Both MTB and road.
This dry weather and reports of dusty trails is abnormal.
Footpaths, paved and unpaved are ok to ride on.
Helmets not compulsory.
Clubs attract weirdos. Are you a weirdo?.
+1, I met nobeer through a bike club....

Iainc makes my point exactly, big faceplanting weirdo that he is!
Where in UK?
There's weirdos everywhere in the Uk.
Weirdo? Never.
Whitwell. I have noticed there is a club in Bolsover, which looks quite near. Can't tell if they are weird or not 🙂
If you want to hang around with roadies join a club, MTB get exploring trails centres are good places with heaps of accessible riding. Access laws are great compared to a lot of the world. Depends on area really for the rest. Post up and somebody will take you for a ride (though probably best to have some burner phones and emails just in case you pick the wrong one)
