Camping for just under a week at Three Cliffs Bay.

In two minds about whether to take bikes or not as we're not there for long and may not get much opportunity to ride.

But ... If there is good stuff, I might make the effort.

So any good trails? MTB or CX friendly loops?

Cheers.

There's a route on STW somewhere ..takes on most of the best bits, but do it the other way to what they say

Either mtb or cx bikes are good though it's so dry at the moment cx is a bit bone shaking so I'd go mtb.  You are ideally placed at three cliffs, you can just cross the road and onto cefn bryn. There are a few sneaky bits of single track nearby too.. depending on your moral standpoint have a look at the footpaths in a bit of woods about a km to the west (watch out for a rock garden that pops up slightly unexpectedly). Or random paths in the big bit of woods just to your north Lots of segments on strava to give you an idea.

There used to be a fun rocky descent straight from the campsite down to park mill but it's been sanitised unfortunately 🙁

On the website....soryy, on mobile right now so can't find it for you.  As ferrals said, there's lots of sneaky bits around...should be ok if you're off major walking bits (I've never had anyone complain about anywhere I've ridden on Gower.

Was out briefly today....it's sooooo dry....make the most of it!

Lots of good riding here - from where you are staying you can do a nice loop taking in all the hills of Gower - bikepacking.com has the basis of a route that can be improved if you look at an OS map. It's published elsewhere too. Good short local rides for a quick spin as well.

In in terms of the bit ferrals is talking about - just be sensitive and watch out for walkers, etc.  Don't ride through the the Penrice estate past the house though unless you want an arguement.

If you want an alternative to the classic Gower (Cefn Bryn to Rhossili) ride, head east past Pennard into Pwll Du bay. The main track is legal and reasonably challenging, as is the climb out. There are tracks in the valley which are worth looking for. Keep going east past Brandy Cove to Bishops Wood (behind Caswell Bay). Plenty of legal and otherwise trails, and generally more of a challenge than further out in Gower.

You can also easily get to the waymarked trails in Clyne valley if you want a longer ride.

As to MTB or CX - I ride both around Gower (as does Ferralls I think). Just depends on mood. My 150mm trail bike is a bit more than I need, though. My Vagabond is perfect. 😀

And it’s all a really lovely place to ride. I’m genuinely jealous that you’ll be finding the place for the first time.

Was out on my cx this evening, bit bumpy but very fast going. I'd probably avoid the second set of sneaky bits I mentioned as it's heaving with walkers at the moment.. plenty of good stuff that's not contentious elsewhere. If on a cx bike it's quite fun to ride the length of rhossilli bay on the sand.
