I've done a route involving quite a lot of road and the Kintyre way. I did Clonaig => Clachan => Tarbet => Skipness => Clonaig. Nice outing but don't expect lots of singletrack. The busy road spoils it a little bit. I'd probably do it the anticlockwise next time as the best singletrack descent is probably down into Tarbet.

Not ridden it but it looks like there is some singletrack around Carradale on cnoc nan Gabhar. Not enough for a longer route but maybe an hours entertainment.

Not really a lot to ride around carradale and campbeltown. More forestry roads than anything. Their is a short run around bhein ghuilean behind Campbeltown but it's only 2k long. Are you driving down? If so you could stop at Lochgilphead as they have the fire tower trail there which is not bad

Stoppin off at Glentress on the way home if we have time, not been there before so that should be good

Some of the big armoured access paths on Arran look like a giggle, Glen Sannox, Glen Rosa and the coire north east of Goatfell all had big long tracks into their upper reaches. Don't know how quick or easy the access is from Claonaig though.

If you look on an OS Map just S of W end of Crinan Canal there is Ardhoe?? forest track that goes S on coast and can I think** be joined through woodland to Lochgilphead. (Crianan canal by the way is a lovely bimble), but I didn't manage the trails.

Arran
- Lamlash to Clauchlands to Brodick on coast - nice/short.
- Lamlash over foresty (tracks)route to Whiting Bay (*waterfall/Giants grave), then along coast(off piste) to Kings Cross (*mainly rideable), up road at fish farm, to 'main road',on downhill to Lamlash drop R to Cordon, then lamlash
See Arran Mountain biking site
