Going to Iceland (the country) at the end of May for a long weekend. The taking of a bike is permitted (well the trip is my birthday present!), so was just wondering what my riding options are?

Road or MTB would be one question I suppose, and recommendations for any routes for either?

We're staying in Reykjavik.

Other, no-bikey recommendations most welcome too.

Ta

Rich

There was a very good and inspiring article in Singletrack mag a few months (year?) back. Check it out.

Many years ago I spent two weeks ago cycling in the south west of Iceland - never too far from Reykjavik ( we finished with a 60min bus ride back to the airport).

We were on MTBs (the roads soon get rough) with minibus support - and even then you felt on the edge, with tents getting blown down, winds you couldn't stand in.

Oh - and everyone will tell you to go to The Blue Lagoon.
