Half a day in the cleave will leave you knackered and happy, some great techie riding in there.

Loads of great riding around here, man! Many challenging bridleways, it's about connecting them together - which isn't difficult with OS map 😉

One from Aish to Totnes (and back) is fantastic - steep up and down on big, loose rocks! 😀

Though Lustleigh is generally pretty wet and mucky that time of year.
Haldon is worth a visit, but it's much better if you can hook up with a local who can show you some of the off-piste stuff.
If the weather's nice then the well known Princetown & Burrator loop is worth doing as it's mostly on trails that hold up well all year round.
A bit further to drive, but Woodbury Common is good when the weather has been wet as it's mostly on sand and gravel-beds.

+1 to all the above, plus further down if you're into PJs style riding and uplifts there's Gawton.

North Devon has Keypitts, though bit of a trek to get up there.

There is some riding actually IN Brixham! My Wife's family live in Brixham, a short walk from Churston Cove and although I have yet to ride them, there are some hand made DH runs in the steep wooded valley that leads down to Churston cove. Look good fun for a trail bike to mess around on for an hour or so.

I grew up in Brixham, still get to visit family. Plenty of cheeky coast path riding this time of year, good CX riding on bridelways, which can be linked up.

Johnj2000 - Ha, sorry. Haven't ridden them though. They are not very long, just steep and twisty. You'll get down 'em on anything, but if you are thinking of Lusleigh Cleave on Dartmoor you'll prob be riding a trail bike anyway?

Churston Cove is the first beach / cove you get to if you were to follow the coast east out of the harbour. The valley runs out the back of the beach/cove. It can be accessed via tracks from near Churston Court pub.
