Am headed to Delamere to stay in one of the cabins with my other half & her two kids this weekend. Having had a quick look there looks like there are a couple family trails and then the MTBing is all unmarked through the woods accessed off the fireroads - is this still actually the case? If so, is there anywhere in particular I should head for?

Any suggestions greatly received!

Thanks, Alex

There's a little beginners trail opened by the main visitor centre apparently,  not tried it yet. Threre are some tracks off the hill with the big masts back towards the centre and also on the back side in the directon of the A556. Clixbys have been busy building little loops, but they're not open yet and people are mainly resisting the urge to ride them.

The existing marked trails are as you suspect, just on the fire roads. There's a few decent tracks near the cabins other than that ask some riders to point you towards Manly skills area and/or No Brains, also not far from the cabins.

I can't promise commit to showing you this weekend as I'm away until Friday myself and working Sunday so will likely have stuff to sort on Saturday. I'll PM you if that changes.

Not been to Delamere for ages, what happened to the DJ's and the 4x course? And the skills slalom course? All gone?

Theres tons of stuff. The kids have been busy and there are now about 7 or 8 lines on Old Pale. Head up to the mast, look back towards the visitor centre. You will see a hedge running parallel.  The lines are just the other side of that.

Or head towards Nettleford Woods and you will find a few drops and short / steep lines.

Plus the usual stuff around the No Brains area.

Thanks all, ended up having a fun couple of rides through the woods - found the stuff on Pale Hill which was fun, rode Manly Hill a bit which was also fun but overgrown in places and then the guy in the visitor centre told me that the new blue sections are all good to ride as they were all bedded in but hadn't been opened officially as they were waiting for signage so these were perfect for my other half's lad!
