As its decent weather at the moment I'm considering riding home from the office, which is by Piccadilly in Manchester these are the routes that google throws up any advice?

What's it like riding along the Bridgewater Canal or the TPT through Dunham Massey, I can navigate from Stretton area without using main road no problem, so ignore the last bit.

Canal can be quite busy. Used to enjoy trundling down the TPT.

That stretch of the canal is very well surfaced as far as Altrincham, but yeah, might be busy as it's a nice day plus 1/2 term holidays. I'd prefer that than the alternative road route through Fallowfield and Didsbury mind.

You live about 2 miles away from me by the looks of it.

The bridgewater canal can be a little busy but the best way out of Manchester.

You can get out as far as Broadheath and as said above cart out on the TPT.

This is a fast lovely section.

the TPT through Dunham Massey

Broad flat ex railway, popular, but easy cycling along a pretty-(ish)  little green ribbon.

Other option, follow bike lanes towards Oxford Road (Universities) and travel south on Alexander Road, picking up the Fallowfield loop, or go a little further West and pick up the new cycle lanes that take you to Chorlton.

Given the weather, pick up the Bridgewater at Castlefield and it will take you right out to the TPT. I'm tempted doing a navigation of Manchester this weekend, TPT from East Stockport to Bridgewater, into town, Ashton and Peak canals back to East Stockport. About 40 miles I believe !

i live 2 mins from the bridgewater in Sale and will do a bit of road work to get to the TPT if it's a nice day cos the canal is ridiculously busy!

Wet november morning and the canal is great 😀

I'd follow the TPT up to stretford and get on the canal there

I've done that once, I'm not sure if I'd rush back to doing it again...

I’ve done that once,

I got talked into it a second time, which was at least brightened up by seeing one of my riding pals fall into the canal at Middlewich. 🤣
