Staying there this weekend with MrsDD and wondering what the riding's like - she's not into technical stuff but are there nice bridleways to explore? And bring the MTBs or is it #dirtydropbargoodness? Route suggestions welcome!
If you're talking Edenfield near Rammy there are bridleways a plenty. If you take the road towards Rawtenstall and take the first minor road on your right after the roundabout this becomes a lane , turn right just before the top this is Sandy beds - its a long gradual up hill to Scout moor [ where the windturbines are,] there are tracks all around ,a good [ not technical downhill at the coal road which puts you on Rochdale road, turn right back to Edenfield. Or you could follow the adrenalin gateway signs to Cragg quarry, or go down rooley more into Rochdale , or hang a left down Cowpe . I'd pick up a local map or get a leaflet on the mary townley loop - you can do sections of it .
A stones throw from Rammy. Loads of stuff on that side of the valley too. Up the coal road to the turbines and then over to craggy quarry, down to owd Betts and all the way into Ramsbottom (which will be packed with tourists this weekend for the 40's stuff)
If I can find a Strava route later I'll pop a link up but I reckon binners will be along shortly to beat me to it...
Nah it's shite.
Loads to go at. Have a look at Lee crag quarry and the other side holcombe hill way
If anyone's looking the BW from the Shoulder of Mutton going west is fairly flat and nothing very lairy - perfect for CX or kids/noobs! And the Shoulder do bloody brilliant food - will be heading back there soon 🙂
