[Closed] Riding Around Camarthen Area?

I might have the opportunity to go to Camarthen next month while my other half is working there for a few days so I was thinking of taking the bike with me.

I've never ridden in Wales before so I was wondering what's around that area that's worth riding, either road or MTB. I'm looking for more XC-type riding nothing that's going to need full-face helmets, pads and suchlike.

Any suggestions of places within an hour's drive of Camarthen?

Within an hours drive of Carmarthen you've got pretty much all of the trail centres bar Cwmcarn, unless you're speedy. Sadly there's little decent natural stuff down that way, riding from the town itself, but head up to Gower and you'll have a treat. There is plenty of decent road riding. Just pick a road and explore, you won't be disappointed.

Brechfa, not just the waymarked trails though. There's so much more and it's only 20 minutes from town. We ride Sunday mornings and Wednesday evening if you want to join us.
Plenty of road routes too if you'd rather that.

As above. Whereabouts will you be based?

Other places to look at are Pembrey Forest (Battle on the Beach venue) and Cwmrhiadr, Cilycwm, near Llandovery.

If you decide to ride over the Black Mountain, use the road. Off road it is a swamp at the best of times, at the moment it is just a liquid hill. I live at the foot of it and at the moment I'm wondering what is stopping the whole morasse just flowing down into the sea 🙁

Sounds like it could be a good few days 😀

I'm not 100% sure where we'll be staying, the wife's work still have to confirm it. As she's working for the three days we'll be there it looks like it's going to be three days riding for me so I might just take both bikes as it sounds like there's plenty of options.

If you fancy heading down this way (Swansea/Gower), give me a shout. I'm often available during the day.
