I've got a couple of weeks in the Dolomites in June.

  • First week staying near Val di Sole - to coincide with the WC.
  • Second week is Vigo di Fassa.

Will have to rent bikes for me and two kids so we definitely won't be riding every day due to the cost... but will probably walk with Mrs Reeksy on the off days.

From looking online there's heaps of options. The riding (and possibly weather) will be very different to anything the lads have done before but hoping to find stuff that floats their boats, which currently involves going downhill with flow or tech.

Looking for tips and ideas for both riding and walking (and anything else) and if there are any must-dos.

The older lad would be up for a lift-assisted Sellaronda I think (if he's not feeling too "Kevin the teenager" at the time).

Drive up to Passo Sella and do the circular walk round Sassolungo or the via ferrata on it if you're feeling brave.

We went skiing in Passo Tonale last Easter.  In the coach transfer we went through Vale di Sole and it was indeed sunny, and around 21deg.  The road then climbs and climbs and climbs some more to reach PT.  There is then a gondola up to a glacier at 3000m, which I believe might be icy all year. That might be a bit different!

The boys will be freezing! I'm not sure they've ever ridden colder than that 😂

Glacier trip sounds awesome though.

If your criteria for a walk is great mountain scenery and few punters then the walk up to the hut under the south face of the Marmolada from near the campsite close to the summit gondola (Malga Ciapela). Nice food at the hut and the creamery where the upper valley starts does a great line in bowls of fresh yoghurt and foraged summer berries.
