Recent moderate exertion related chest pain has taken me to cardiology and various tests over the past week. Saw cardiologist privately the other night and am going for a CT Angiogram on Tuesday. The Consultant is a mad keen roadie which helps I guess. Anyway, a quite likely outcome may be fitting of a stent. A google suggests that many people are riding again within a relatively short time after this procedure so I’m keen to hear people’s experiences.
Am hoping it may be a case of statins and omeprazole, which he reckons is also a strong possibility, however no surety until next week.
Currently resting up on a short course of pre CT beta blockers, RHR down from usual 50 ish to about 40...hoping that a few glasses of red tonight will have a pleasing effect 😜
Hope it all goes well. It seems from reading that after the stent steadily building back up goes well, but your consultant will guide you and might want another exercise treadmill test before you do much.
I was expecting stenting until a recent CT angiogram cleared me of any CAD or stenosis. Now I'm waiting for a cardiac MRI to try and find out what my arrhythmia issues are.
Longdog, thanks, I have read your thread at length. I’ve been doing loads of riding, incl a 4 day trip to the Outer Hebrides a couple of weeks ago, and a couple of biggish ones last weekend. It hasn't been slowing me down so fitness should still be good I guess. Treadmill test was about 12 mins to a bit beyond max HR with no symptoms but the trace had a couple of odd things, and the echo test indicated some ‘thickening’ of something left ventricle area, hence Angiogram..
Mate of mine has been stunted. After a month of gentle rebuilding he was back into it - have done 11 expedition races with him and he hasn’t died as yet ! Good luck.
Good to hear !
