Had my worst hand done two weeks ago, Carpal Tunnel decompression, pulled the stitches out in the bath last night. No symptoms any more with that hand just post op soreness still, some very minor bleeding and tiny bit of puss came out with the stitches.
How long until those who have had the op were riding? I can hold a drink and do simple tasks but some things still hurt and it's still painful if I catch it so I know.its a few weeks still. Just wanting ride a bit before I get the other hand done start of September.
I had both of mine done at the same time about 7 or 8 years a go now (that was fun for a couple of weeks!) the advice I was given was that I could get back to riding as soon as it was comfortable to do so, I can't remember exactly how long it took now but I think it was 4 weeks for shorter road rides and about 6 weeks until I was off road again.
Similar to Bazz, I was back climbing and cycling gently at 4 weeks and not even thinking about it by 8. Road biking on the hoods was very sore as it went down the incision line but mtb or tops was fine.
It is only soft tissue healing so once the wound is closed that is pretty much it. If it is still bleeding after 2 weeks and pussy that suggests that healing is being delayed or is infected, may be worth asking gp for advice. If it hurts for basic daily tasks I'd wait until that feels OK.
Make sure that you do the stretches for hand mobility though. I also rubbed bio-oil into and around the scar once fully closed for a good while to improve skin flexibility on recommendation of the surgeon.
