After defending the Police (in general) in the light of the recent demo's, etc., on the basis that all my dealings with them have so far been good.....
out on a ride just coasting up to a traffic light (red) and broadly aware there's a car a little behind, I pull out the water bottle and have a quick swig. I'm doing - what - 4mph?
At the light the car pulls alongside and it's a panda car (not the traffic boys, just a normal Focus i think) And the passenger copper winds down his window and says to me that if I was in a car and he'd seen me doing that he *could* have nicked me.
NB: not would, so i suppose he's technically right, but I also assume he *could* have found some means of getting me for the bike if he felt like it. Like no pedal reflector, etc.
Just a bellend with nothing better to do? Or a friendly word of advice.
I was so astonished I completely forgot to laugh at him. Luckily.
If you had been indicating, or scratching your nose- 'could' he have 'ad you for that too? Sounds like a prize nob to me
I agree. Stupid.
Mind you, I don't think I'd ever let myself be nicked by a copper when I'm on the bike...too easy to smile at them then ride off laughing.
The last few run ins I have had is when I've seen the stupid fat plod around here riding on the pavement.
