You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Thinking about having a crack at the Ridgeway, i am assuming that the ground is heavy going at the moment?
In light of the forecast how long would it take for the ground to dry out?
It's not too terrible you know. I did a section of about 2 miles at the weekend, Sat morning, it wasn't bad.
Certainly by this weekend it should be perfect mostly, will be a few puddles maybe in various bits.
I'll be riding a god few sections on Friday this week as i'm heading over to Goring way on part of my day out in the sun adventure.
I would wait till you have had a good few days of dry weather. 2 miles on the weekend is not that far to judge an 85 mile route. From personal experience it can vary quite a bit. Grassy exposed sections to wooded sections, top of the hill to bottom of the valley.
If it was me I would wait till after an extended dry period and I ride the Chilterns regularly.
thanks, will await any feedback. Was thinking about banging out the 90miles avebury-goring-avebury to stretch the legs.
That's all going to be good apart from the section next to A34 on the goring side which will be horrible, but passable, the section past Goring by the fisherie will be bogged but if only going to Goring you won't even see that... Over by Ogborne St George a couple of the descents may be slimey and the descent down to the pub in Avebury will be wet.
If you want to change the plan a bit and fancy some Chippenham to Goring, i could be persuaded to change Fridays ride.
Nothing firm yet to change, but won't be for a couple of weeks i suspect, which hopefully means it will have dried. But still toying with getting a kicking at Pippingford.
