Hi
I'm constantly experiencing problems with Garmin connect
Ran a search with the headline
Problem loading courses on Garmin 1000
One of the results came back with a site that had a number of users not impressed with Garmin connect for a number of various reasons , but many recommended ride with GPS as there go to programme
Are there any users in here ?
If so what package are you on ?
Are you happy with it ?

Thanks in advance

I use RWGPS a lot for course plotting. Exported as TCX to my Garmin (810), I've had good results. This is from the free membership.

Literally anything is better than Garmin Connect IME. I don't use it but a couple of people I know swear by RWGPS. RWGPS also permits turn-by-turn course following on the Wahoo Elemnt for when you chop in your Garmin 😉

If you think Connect is bad, you should try Lezyne's software...

Does that route you down overgrown footpaths too? 🙂

Having "used" Sony's abysmal "SonicStage" mp3 software back in the day I am sure that there must be worse software out there, but surely Garmin can get it right after all this time. I'm just glad I never have to use it again.

Seems to be standard in my club. No complaints

I've used it for a long time, very happy with it. Mostly used the free plan, but ended up on the basic plan primarily for some of the advanced route editing features (for big road rides).

RWGPS does sometimes try to route you down footpaths and bridleways, which can be a problem on the road bike...

I've been caught out by rwgps routing. My general rule now is to check that Street view is available. If it's not the road might be private or not suitable for a road bike

For what it's worth, I was going to upgrade my Edge 800 to the Edge 1000 as I was tired for it stopping giving turn by turn instructions part way through a ride.

However, at the last minute I bought a Wahoo Elemnt instead. Reading the above I'm so glad I did. I can plot a course with RWGPS, select it via my phone using the Wahoo app and the Elemnt navigates flawlessly.

i use RwGPS for both the Elemnt and the Suunto watch. Seems to be the best plotting tool (at least of the ones i've used). Still only a free account though; can't really see what a paid for account brings you.
