Going to be staying a week in Harlech with little 'un, planning to take the MTB and escape for a morning or two (no chance).
Am I best off driving to a trail centre?
40 mins to Coed Y Brenin? Whats it like these days - I first rode it in 2001 or so when the Red Bull trail opened, I remember it being a revelation at the time. Or 45 mins to Penmachno? I think I have ridden that about 10 years ago, was eerily quiet.
But the driving will eat 1.5 hours of precious riding time. So is there any great 3-4hr rides closer to Harlech / riding from Harlech? I could take the "gravel" bike for less gnar, but I want to do some mtb really.
I’d go CYB - we often stop Harlech/ Barmouth way and that’s what we mostly do. Especially so if you’ve not ridden it for a long time.
Point Scethin if you like natural trails not too far. For trails I’d go to Penmachno.I went to CYB few weeks ago after not visiting for ages and was a bit underwhelmed really.
Ok cheers.
Start of this ride is 15 mins away, seems like a tough 13 miles

Steepest road in the world in Harlech, has to be done if you are there with a bike. The official segment is not that long, something like ~0.2 miles. 😉
