We're heading to the lakes in a few weeks for a holiday with the extended family. We'll be staying somewhere near Bowness. I'll be taking the bike with the aim of getting out for a couple of morning rides.

Anyone got any suggestions? Probably 10-20 miles ish? Enough to get my legs spinning but not so long as to get me in bother with the women...

Cheers,
Kevin

Chain ferry across Windermere - best start to a ride anywhere 🙂

Then either up the hill to Far Sawrey and turn right up onto Claife Heights, or follow the lakeshore road/track and back over Claife from the other end. For a short loop head back to the ferry, if you've got more time then carry on to Hawkshead and up for a spin round the Grizedale woods.

Get the map out & explore, there are very few duff bridleways on that side of the lake.

Make sure to take the car ferry it's kinda cool, and cheap.
