[i]Mods - please delete if this has been done, but I did a search.

Legend and all round forum nice guy Dave "Dibbs" Dibble sadly passed away recently of a cardiac arrest at work.

My memory: Popping over to his house, where he kindly drilled some cleats out from my shoes.

RIP

That is sad.

May his family find some comfort, and may his memory be eternal.

yep. that dibbs.

I'd known Dave for getting on for 20yrs. not well but well enough to be shocked and saddened. this and sudden death of charlie craig has really made me take a step back and consider the fragility of some of the things we all take for granted.

Indeed! I never (knowingly) met Dibbs.

I've pored over details of all the old posts that mention the Quantocks as part of last years quest to learn my way round every nook and cranny and he always had some helpful, oft witty input. Was hoping to say hi one day. RIP.

Dibbs Monday posts of Quantock adventures with great pics encouraged me to get over there. Hope there will be a ride out for him at some point.

That's a good idea. I'm afraid I didn't know him very well but have connections through my childrens' school and bumped into him now and again more recently.

There is a service on Wed - can send details if anyone PMs me.

Thats awful.

Never met the man but seemed like one of the good guys and clearly loved riding (going by his Strava).

Condolences to his friends and family.

Never met him but he never came across badly on here, which given the length of time he's been posting, has to tell me the kind of bloke he was. RIP 🙁

Met Dibbs a couple of times on the Quantocks/Exmoor rides Sharki used to organise back in the day. Lovely bloke, and an encyclopedic knowledge of the area he was happy to share.

Yes, a ride out in his honour would be a great idea, taking in a few of his favourite spots. Lunch at Bicknoller Post?

May his trails be dusty and serene.

'Uncle' Dave has been a great friend for 25 years.
Put very simply, I almost certainly wouldn't lead the amazing life I do today if he hadn't been such an enthusiastic, patient and supportive influence on my life as a kid.
I'm going to miss him greatly.

We have the funeral today however there will be a ride in his memory organised too.
His son is also a mountain biker so he's keen to get something organised.
I will update this thread when the details are finalised.

WTactualF!

Despite never meeting him, Dibbs looms large in my mind as one of the long standing STW south west chapter members.

I've pored over his generous and freely given route advice on many an occasion and I have him to thank for so many great rides on the 'Tocks.

You say Quantocks, I say Dibbs.

Especially galling after winning his recent battle with cancer.

Ride on Dibbs.
