Camaraderie and fun is the vibe. Be great to chat to any forum members if you're doing the route, Fraser
Yo!!
I'll be there again, and this time I'm dragging along four others from the Cairngorm Cycle Club (maybe more). I'm planning to set off at 7pm, rather than the 6pm I did last year, and to ride a little slower, so that I don't arrive in Cramond at the stupid time of 1:45 😂
Great event, great vibe.
Regrettably missing this years 😥
Have a great time and good luck to all the participants.
First time for me, and a mate. Presume you can bivi on/near the beach?
@scotroutes - the more the merrier. Look forward to catching up and a blether.
@boxelder - there's some benches I've seen folk sleep on afterwards, or there's the grass along the beach, but it'll be busy with dog walkers by 9am-ish. But yes, you'll be able to get your head down 👍
First time for me, hopefully doing it with a couple of friends on a tandem. Their longest ride so far is 55 miles so I'm half expecting them to cry off.
@scotroutes - you're right about the weather, might be a totally dry and warm run, or could be wet from Moffat onwards!

Beeftub on a tandem will be grim. Other than that i think it would be quite an easy tandem ride.
@boxelder. If you cross the river almond and pop into the estate there are more opportunities to bivvy without looking full cyclehobo.

They've been out to ride Beeftubs so they know what to expect. They're setting off early and taking regular breaks. Say hello when you inevitably pass them!
Someone I know is doing the Solstice Sprint ATM – 1000k of riding non-stop for around two days. WTF!
I'll be there. Second time for me (the last one was the epic thunderstorm edition). Hoping to ride back via Inners on Sunday if I've got the legs for it!
First time for me, but have heard great things from colleagues who've been riding it for a few years now.
My Brother Alan is doing it again on his stand up Eliptigo. 3rd year iirc for him . He wants to make to the beach for sunrise having been too slow for the last years to arrive on time.
When you overtake him a few words of encouragement like ' Well done Alan - good effort ' would be much appreciated.
@singletrackmind - Alan is now a bit of a celebrity at RttS, gets lots of attention and he's got lots of chat!
Hope everyone else enjoyed it - we lucked out with missing the worst of the stormy weather, and 1300 or so riders made it magical. All beers gone and none left for an after party!!
Another fantastic evening.
I was way too warm in Carlisle, so stripped off to my gilet. It's a strong look...
We went off too fast again and then had to rein it in a bit so we didn't arrive way to early. However, that meant we arrived at the chippy just before masses arrived. Chicken kebab went down a treat.

Midges at the Crook Inn were ferocious this year, encouraged no doubt by the warm, muggy air.
We saw flashes of lightning as we approached Edinburgh but it was well North and East of us so wasn't a threat.
Early arrival at Cramond gave us time to pack bikes away, get changed and head to the cafe for a bacon roll before rolling down to the beach again for a beer.
Shame there was no actual sunrise but we were there for the moment and atmosphere anyway.
Massive thanks to all involved. The Scout transport was slick and trouble-free, the chippy, Wee Crook and Fresh Start were welcoming and all the riders very chilled and happy.
And to Fraser and Gary - you keep organising it, we'll keep coming!!
I enjoyed it as my first ever overnight ride. Set off about 7pm, stopped at Moffat for a burger and the cyclorave for water and a banana. Caught up with my friends on the tandem just after the cyclorave (they'd set off just after 3.30 pm) and rode slowly (9mph) with them to the finish. Got in to Cramond about 0400. They've vowed never to do it again but I think I'll be there next year.
