With all of this rain in the last week or so in the west of the UK, would a route in Rhayader/Elan Valley on a fine day this week be a good option or bog-fest?

Any sections to avoid?

Half thinking of this route: Rhayader Classic

Any info appreciated. Cheers.

The final descent is always worth doing whatever the weather. Best done in full flood conditions, in the dark with failing bike lights for the full experience. If it is really wet I'd probably miss out the first section up the river valley.

There's a reason they built a reservoir there to feed one of the UK's most populated areas.
Joking apart I would think most of the route would be pretty good.
Up until the last week or so it has been very dry.
There'll be some bog hopping on the section after crossing the mountain road but the rest should be fine.

Marko - Ha ha! Thank you. Not quite the conditions I am anticipating. Sounds like seat of your pants type of stuff!

singlespeedstu - that’s good news, ta. A bit of bog hopping we can tolerate.
