I've got an issue with a new OEM Aeffect 24mm spindle crankset.
- The stock RF ring the chainline lined up fine with bike's stock chainguide.
- Replaced that with a cinch boost (Blackspire) 28t ring and it's suddenly sitting too far outboard and fouling the chain device.
Perhaps I'm missing something here? Any mechanics or owners been through this?
Boost chainring stick out wider than a normal ring to allow wider chainstays. Your original ring was non boost probably.
RF cinch chain rings are not boost offset. The boost or non-boost chainline on the Aeffect cranks comes from the plastic spacers on the spindle.
You can fit an aftermarket boost offset chain ring to get a boost chainline, but then you need the spindle spacers in the non-boost position (ie on the NDS).
If you have a boost bike with a RF chain ring then I'd guess the spacers must be on the DS, swapping then to the NDS will bring the chainline in 3mm.

Cheers all and especially mark90, I had a vague inkling of that spacer maybe doing something from something I'd read before.
In other news, not a fan of the self-extracting bolt on this crankset vs. using the nice Park tool I'd bought for my other Aeffect one.
Spacer has to stay on DS, physically won't fit over spindle (and above doc says so too).
I suspect this OE chainset is boost by default and I have purchased the wrong chainring.
The spacers are black, there are two and they adjust chain line.
See here https://www.raceface.com/products/details/aeffect-cinch-crank in the manual section, parts 3a I think
These narrow 1mm spacers are what I moved when swapping my Aeffect crank from a non-boost bike to a boost bike. I used the same Shimano BB, BB spacer on DS, and same chain guide on ISCG05 tabs. All worked fine just swapping the spacer rings over. The preload elastomer stayed on the NDS as it sits in the crank. Also see the pdf linked above by Paul.

I’m going to need to replace a Cinch ring soon on the Aeffect which came my 2017 Bronson (boost frame). IIRC the only spacer I remember being there is the one with a red circle on it. Do I need to be just buying a normal ring rather than a boost one?

Yes I think so.
Does your existing ring sit straight over the point it's mounted, or is it dished outboard a bit?
If straight, get non-boost.
Cheers for the links guys, but I think I'll just use non-boost rings rather than muck about with spacers. Didn't get any spares with mine as it's OE.
Will need to check when back in front of the bike. Good to know as I could’ve made the same mistake.
I'm happy to take one for the team.
Anyone wanna buy three red 28t boost cinch rings then?
New ring turned up today. Non boost Praxis oval 30t (half price at Merlin so thought I'd give it a go). Seems to run the same chain line as the RF ring that has come off so thanks for the tip.
Meant to say Rotor oval ring ^^^
