Anybody been? How was it? How many races do you get to see?
£15 a ticket seems quite cheap
Small group of us are thinking of getting tickets for the round on 1st December in Manchester.
Yes, it's brilliant. Lots of racing, no long delays between the action. great atmosphere, particularly ace if there are some big hitters competing. Fantastic value for money. Don't know anyone who has been and come away disappointed.
Frankly, I can't think of a good reason I've not got any tickets for this season yet!
Anybody been?
Yes, usually get to about one per season.
How was it?
Generally fantastic, they vary a bit depending on the racing - some events concentrate more on sprints or more on endurance. It depends a bit on who the stars are that night.
How many races do you get to see?
Usually about 15-20 races per night, they pack them in. Track cycling is very concentrated in terms of the races on, as soon as one group is off the track, the next race is underway so there's always something going on.
Tickets are pretty cheap although you'll find that they sell out quickly, especially with post-Olympic fever. Also, if they manage to get one of the big stars (like Cav or Wiggins) tickets will disappear in minutes!
A lot of it is very much "showcase" racing - basically the riders are told to put on a good show. There's a bar, food stalls etc there as well, decent music so a really good atmosphere.
Sounds perfect, hopefully get the none cyclists of the group interested too!!
Thanks
I'd be surprised if you can still buy tickets. I looked last week and ended up buying 2 tickets for the VIP bar on the 5th January as I couldn't get 2 seats together. I went twice last season and it was a great night out on both occasions. Took the wife and kids to the Maddison championship as well to see Sir Chris and they loved it. 😀
