So my reverb has started sagging. It has a vent valve but I don't have the SRAM tool to do it with. Question is what does the tool actually do and I can use something else like socket on it. Am pushing down on the valve cover or around it, if that makes sense. Thanks.
It fits over the valve cover and pushes against the base of that. A red t-shaped item with a 6-8mm hex shape in the long bit. That fits over the valve and goes down to make a hard stop. You then push it down and it does something.
My reverb has a squish but the venting trick isn't doing anything so needs a service...which is annoying.
When you say the base, do you mean it pushes the valve cap down?Â
The tool has an 8mm recess - so may well just pressing the valve cap down .Although I don't know this for sure. Hopefully you have better luck than me with my barely used post where a reset only worked temporarily ....hopefully the warranty return it's going through will get it fixed properly for me .
I don't know if it pushes against the valve cap or not...but you do give it a hard push down and hold it down...
You can use anything to push down on the top of the valve. I've used all sorts while out on a ride. Just putting a stone between your palm and the valve works.Â
Finally I got rid of my reverb and replaced it with a One Up post that actually works.Â
Managed to get it to work with a socket. Key was pushing down on the socket while gripping under the bits that the seat bolts go through (no idea what to call them) but essence stopping the seat post moving first then pushing the post. A top of air pressure then seems to of sorted it. Thanks.
