I knew I'd be asking/researching this at some point - just didn't think it would be so early!
Today my Reverb decided it didn't want to extend back up.
It did eventually with me 'persuading' it - then I was reluctant to use it again.
I've only used it 6-7 times - it was bought used but was immaculate.

I've skim read about bleeds/returning it etc

What's the most likely cause?

Things to check before warranty: seat post clamp not too right, bleed (easy job), air pressure is at 250 psi

Is a bleed easy? I'm a numpty with stuff like this.
I have no bleed kit so that makes it more difficult I guess 😉
Once bled, how long can I expect it to work properly before it's next one?

They're very easy to bleed- easier than brakes- though you do need the kit and oil. Mine's never needed it mind other than when I cut the hose

Ive only had to do it after cutting hose or damaging remote. Youll need the kit but its easy, have a look at the RS videos

Check air pressure first. That fixed mine - it was down at 150psi. Worked perfectly since then up until recently after 2 years of use and zero maintenance. It needs a bleed if you can push the seat down when locked in a partially extended position or fully extended. In my case it locked just fine, it just didn't fully extend - I had to pull it up the last inch or so by gripping the saddle with my thighs and pulling it up. After topping up the air pressure it worked just fine. And recently when it did need bleeding it still fully extended, but you could just push it down half an inch or so, but it would spring back.

I'm a very new Reverb owner and had to go down the bleed route.

This may be elementary stuff, but the cause of many hours of swearing was down to inadequate sealing of the hose. You need to make sure that the hoses are properly attached at both ends, whilst taking care to avoid damaging the fragile alloy hose attachments.

The bleed itself is relatively painless, provided you have the right tools. There's no room for bodging, sadly.

There's a good RS video on YouTube on how to bleed a reverb.

It's also worth checking the hose route. I had the problem of the lever getting harder to depress and the saddle barely returning to position. The cause was that, after I had extracted the post a few inches to allow the use of a bike stand clamp, sliding the post back in again was causing a kink in the hose.
Simply pulling the hose back through, sorted the problem.

Had the same on night rides, the cable holding the battery on was too tight around the reverb cable 😳

Are all bleed kits created equally?
They seem to vary in price from £15 - 30.

Is there one definitive must-have one? Cheers

Bled mine several times. Never worked right. Sent it back, was told it was a faulty one and sent a new one. That one got sold

The CRC Reverb kit comes with 2 spare O rings for the syringes.
How ESSENTIAL are they as the kit I'm looking at doesn't have them but is £12 not £30...

Going to bleed the post tomorrow but checked the PSI today - was about 220 so pumped it up to 250PSI as suggested by someone on here. Pressed remote and compressed post but now it won't extend fully - aarrgghhh! Any tips on how to get a full extension prior to bleeding? 😉

I've given it several hard yanks and it just pulls back down.
Guess it needs to be fully out before bleeding can commence but how do I get a full length again? 😉

Bleed it with it stuck down. Will be fine. That's what I had to do to mine when I replaced the hose and found I didn't put the barb in all the way.
Enough oil to push it down, but not enough to extend it back after it had pee'd all over the floor.

This is a common side effect of it wanting a bleed!

TOP TIP!

If you have a LH remote fixed upside down to the RH bars and have an extension issue, install it in it's intended position ON TOP on the LH bars. Hey presto - you get a full extension with no need to bleed!*

*Seems to have done the trick but yet to test on the trail so could be a false dawn!
