You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hiya,
The collar on one of the kid's droppers managed to come loose recently and some dirt etc managed to get down inside before we noticed, so I attempted a video-assisted home service.
I didn't have the fluid level tool so I was hoping that I could bleed it afterwards to sort out the fluid levels but maybe this was a daft assumption.
However, after reassembling and bleeding, I am only getting about 1/2 the travel.
Do you think this is down to the fluid level or something else? And if so, is there a way to fix this, preferably without taking it apart again or buying the fluid level tool.
Any ideas welcome!
Ta.
Almost definitely down to the oil height which has to be set correctly. Depending on which post you have depends on which oil height you need. You can do without the tool if you know how far to push the IFP down, a piece of copper pipe or similar will suffice. Check online for the measurement. There was a line marked on my IFP/Oil height tool marked "stealth". It wasn't the correct measurement for my later model stealth post. See here
You'll have to strip it apart again to reset the height to the correct level.
Okay great - thanks. Mine is one of the earlier models so fingers crossed.
Really helpful that they gave you the wrong measurements!

I had the tool for the earlier posts. The stealth post I serviced was a later model; longer travel & my own fault for not checking.
