I recently bought a stealth reverb and despite bleeding it every way possible I still can't get it to drop.
I'm going to take it apart and service it but may as well swap some seals.
I don't want to go crazy though incase it's knackered!
Any advise on what to change and where to get them from?
Cheers!!
Have you tried compressing the post without air in and then pumping it up?
I did a full service successfully on one of mine recently as it had got sticky; it’s much more complicated than most work on the bike. The full service kits are available eg from TF Tuned and are really not cheap for what you get and it’s tempting to send it away for someone else to do. However, I like to fettle. Have a look at the SRAM service manual and youtube for your model service for instructions. You will need some specific tools to hand particularly to get the oil level right.
My shock pump wouldn't fit on the valve so not yet. I've got a diffent one coming this week so I'll try that first.
Thanks
I might be wrong, but if it wont compress that could be because it hasnt been bled corrected and so the lever isnt activating it, the 250 psi is used to return it to its extended position.
With the old remotes, I often find that I have to set the speed to the extreme positive setting to get it to activate, doesnt seem to be a problem with (me!) and the 1x remote.
If it's under 2 years old, send it back to SRAM / Fishers
I've had leaks (due to my incompetence - external only) where the post dropped straight after bleeding but not after a ride. This wasn't on stealth though I imagine that the same would apply.
It would be a pretty significant leak to stop the lever working immediately.
You can get a seal kit from a few places (TF Tuned and Bike Discount spring to mind). Also SRAM have put service instructions on YouTube.
The service itself is a bit fiddly, but relatively easy with the correct tools and equipment, but if it’s under warranty I’d take it straight back...no point voiding it
I bought it second hand so no warrenty. I'm going to have a fettle with it this week off the bike and see if I can get it shifting. I've let the air out and still no joy.
I'll have a proper play later in the week!
Costly servicing and poor reliability is why I switched to Brand-X Ascend. It's cheaper to buy a new Ascend than service a reverb and performance is equivalent.
OP - put it back on eBay and save yourself the hassle.
