I think my reverb needs a service.
Who do you use to do this?

Is worth sending it to tftuned etc or get my local shop to give it a once over instead?

We do it in house & same day turn around.
Any decent bike shop should be able to, it's no harder than a suspension fork.

6 people out of our riding group have all have brand new replacements free of charge when sent in for a chargeable service at Sram/rockshox UK. Definitely worth getting your local shop to send off to Sram for a service rather than anywhere else. They seem to have been replaced due to very minor scratches in the air chamber and Sram have simply given out new posts.

Can they be sent direct to SRAM/Rockshox yourself of does it have to be via a dealer?

Via a dealer, if it's a recent warranty & it's one we've supplied, we don't send them back but repair in house.
Faster turn around, better quality workmanship (more lube in the right places & bled properly!)
We'd rather have people out riding their bikes than sat in the shed waiting for a replacement.

All my buddies posts have gone via a dealer back to Sram. Service cost quoted was £80 but ALL of them ended up with a new post for free due to issues found inside. All they've ended up for in the end was the postage. Took about 5 days.

That's interesting. My post is about 3 years old so wod assume it's well out of warranty now. Will drop it off to the shop I bought it from and see if they can sort it out.

some of these were outside of warranty, no proof of purchase, some second hand etc. Sram just seem very good at looking after their customers

Thanks for all the info. I'll drop it round to the local shop to get them to send it to SRAM. Funnily enough it is one of the few things on my bike that I actually bought brand new from a real non-internet shop. That will obviously mean I will get charged full price for servicing and parts!!

Oh one more thing, all you did was ask the LBS to return the post to SRAM for a service? Thats all? No returning for warranty problems or anything like that?

I have a merry-go-round of 3 Reverbs and 2 bikes as luck would have it after buying one myself for a bike I ended up selling and kept the Reverb for use on a 2nd hand frame only for it to come with one anyway. My LBS has sent two of them back to SRAM and I've had new ones back citing an air seal issue, seat post drops a few mm when sat on as the problem. One is still sealed in it's box.

Neither of the posts had failed on me but my LBS insisted there was something wrong with them so I let them send them off. All externally routed 125mm 30.9 as my frames don't have stealth routing.

I've had good value for money out of them so I'm happy to keep hold of the spare now incase one of them does give up.

It's definitely amazing customer service if you have a Reverb.

My guess is it costs less to make new ones than it does to pay someone to take them apart and repair them?

Related question here.

I rode a new Reverb Stealth for 8 months last May-November and at the end of that period I could feel the post sagging ever so slightly (2-3mm max) when I sat on it. This doesn't bother me but is it a sign that a service is due soon?

My previous Reverb developed 5-10mm sag after about 12 months of use which did bother me a little so if my new one may go this way I guess a service would be a good shout? Best to send it back to the popular German online shop I bought it from or a suspension service centre?

Ta.

Don't know where you stand with internationally purchased posts but the symptom sounds the same as why my posts were returned to SRAM and warrantied back with brand new ones.

Best to contact them before sending it back and ask how long it might take to be turned around before parting with it.

If you have a LBS you're a good customer of it's worth a shout to them too as they may be able to help you out and send it back to SRAM Tech UK for a potentially quicker turnaround.

Or try calling / emailing Fisher Outdoor see what they advise?

Iornholio - I had exactly the same issue with my reverbs only 2 weeks ago. Had them serviced at Rebound in Bolton, now working better than when new. Apparently it's caused by a slight loss of fluid from one of the chambers. Cost me £60 each which included upgrading the bushings.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll contact the German online shop first and see what they advise, etc. I'm not trying to wangle a free replacement or service but that would be nice. I live in the French Alps and ski until April/May so sending the post away for a while isn't a problem.
