Reverb rebuild question

Do you mean setting the oil height? I used a syringe, a length of copper brake pipe with a bit of ally clamped at the right height to act as a stop. A clothes peg at the right height on the pipe could work if you’re careful.

theres a youtube, step by step from butter suspension,  good video but i seem to miss that part (after 23.40?)

so many videos on there with different methods and tips, I dont want to follow the official rockshox one if its immensely detailed and uses tools I dont have and procedures i can miss out. Im changing the oil, but not the seals

If I've got the right video, setting the oil height is at 33:20 (ish). You can use any small bore tubing (or even a drinking straw) with a syringe to set the height - just measure the right depth with a ruler & mark it.

I’m assuming to get rid of sag. You don’t necessarily need to do all the seals, but I’d spring for a new and maybe updated IFP certainly.

It was stuck down so I had to strip it down, but I replaced all the seals before.

I used a piece of clear pipe with the desired height marked on and a syringe on the other.   insert it into the post and When it sucked out air you've taken enough out...

Best thing is just to bin it and buy a cable operated one.  brand x are still available from Evans as it'll just sag again.

I bought the proper IFP tool as it was so cheap, again you could make one. I’d still recommend a new IFP.

As for binning it off for a Brand X, why would you when it can be fixed for a few notes and some patience then last another year or sell on.

yes thats it. Other videos show setting oil height after setting th IFP, so i didnt see it near the end somehow

I feel like if I didnt service this, then I shouldnt lube my chain, pump my tyres up, or bleed my brakes, just buy a new bike everytime it gets dirty.

I Like Reverbs **because** they can be serviced and repaired. Have had three, and never really had any problem with any of them - one went a bit saggy, but very easy to sort out in an afternoon. I found them better than the KS LEV Integra that came with my FS bike (forever sticking and very finicky about the grease you need after cleaning it out, but mostly disposable 🙁 ).

Was just curious why you'd gone to the trouble of completely dismantling it and weren't going to change the seals, but now makes sense.

so yes it all works now. Had my doubts as i couldnt get it to work  'unpluged', but with the remote attached its good

Don't know what rebuilds cost in relation to bits needed and time spent fiddling(seemingly in frustration) but replacement is £99 in BF sales

yes i noticed that, fortunately i have a load of spare o rings.

And a spare new post on the way now, so i can keep riding  while i fix this one again next time
