So 2 rides in on my new Reverb, very happy with it.

Just want to check - there is a very small amount of play front/back in the post which I've heard mentioned, doesn't notice when riding.

However I can also get a small amount of play if I twist the saddle side to side. It feels like it is coming from the clamp area rather than the actually shaft like the back and forth play.

Tried tightening up clamp and it isn't sorting it. Anything to worry about?

Play in mine in both planes from new but VERY minimal. Done 3 or 400 miles on it now and no change. And play is deinitely from the "slider" into the larger section it disappears into.

Same here - only side to side feels loose but is tightened fully. Thinking of just putting a layer of insulation taps round the seat bars to put a stop to it ready for Coniston on Sat

Hang on, don't get too reassured.

Mine ended up with the clamp area coming unscrewed from the shaft itself. It's not bonded, it's threaded with locktite so it shouldn't come loose, but it can happen.

I broke the locktite seal on mine by slamming the saddle into my thigh when I hit a berm and the bike came upright quite suddenly.

Fisher replaced the unit within 24 hours and said it really shouldn't happen.

It's less a feeling of play and more like the whole post has twisted in the seat tube only it hasn't it's just the saddle that's twisted.

Oh. It's definitely a 'twisting' motion that I notice it.

So if I hold the nose of the saddle and the back of the saddle I gently rotate I can feel some give (maybe a mm or 2). I believe in the clamp area, not the shaft

When yours broke was it knackered or could you just screw it back in?

Wondering why it is designed to be 'screwed' in rather than bonded?

I spoke to Fisher/SRAM technical guys and they said it DEFINITELY shouldn't do what mine did. I said that I had been able to 'screw it back in' (to answer your question) and they said that was fine but that they absolutely wanted it returned.

There is a high pressure valve behind that element so the seat clamp area coming off would not be a good thing.

I've no idea why it's not bonded; perhaps because that is how they access the internals for other servicing needs?

Mine was sent back on Wednesday and returned by Friday. They took the whole inner assembly out and put a new one in.
