Had the bike serviced recently and the reverb basically won’t return in the slowest setting at all. My instructions to the shop were “it’s a bit slow in the winter”. Reading around and from memory, I remember these being a bit of a faff to bleed in terms of things to be mindful of, not the actual process. Just checking if this means it’s most likely been bled with the return adjuster in the wrong position?
I always found reverbs really easy to bleed.
It sounds like it’s not been done properly. When you turn the speed adjuster can you see the lever move out a little bit?
If you have a bleed kit it’s dead easy to sort, but if you’ve paid a shop to do it and they haven’t it might be worth popping back, assuming that doesn’t leave you without a bike for ages..
Yeah, the actual bleed’s not too bad. I had a bunch of other servicing to do, hence the shop.
I’ll give that a check, thanks! I’ve got a bleed kit, but just a bit hacked off about the bleed.
Does the Reverb work in the fast return position??
If it does I'd try just a lever bleed to start with. Only takes 5 mins
Try this..
Get the Lever parallel to the ground.
Put a bit of reverb oil in syringe and attach.
Turn speed adjustment to full slow.
Put pressure on syringe plunger then push in and release dropper lever several times. (Keep pressure on syringe)
Once you’ve finished pressing lever in and out give the syringe a little pressure again. Turn to full fast and repeat
Do this a few times finishing the whole process on full slow and just applying that little bit of pressure to the syringe before disconnecting.
If you knew all that sorry for stating the obvious..! I found I had to do this quick lever bleed occasionally, but it got the post sorted
I had a problem with slow return a week or two ago and despite putting some grease on the shaft to lubricate the top wiper seal it didn't make any difference. I found the bleed kit and thought that I'd watch a YouTube video first, in doing so I found this video
I thought that I would try this instead of bleeding as it is easier. Thankfully it solved the problem. I did notice that when the weather warmed up last week that the rise rate was much faster.
I did not know any of this. Worth a shot before I write a strongly worded letter to the the poor lad who serviced my bike 😂
Thanks for the advice. I’ll have a go and report back.
