I've an externally routed Reverb which is losing air. After each ride it's down 100 PSI if I don't use the dropper and if I do can be as low as 50 PSI.

Sounds like seals to me but wanted to know if anyone had experience of this issue? Any recommendations on getting it serviced? Self/shop? Costs... It's a few years old now so wondering if I should shell out for a new one at a cost of 220€.

Any advice appreciated!

I would suggest a Brand X.

What version of the reverb is it A1/2 or B1? Internally or externally routed?

It should be repairable. Early ones had a problem with the 'O' ring around the inner seal head blowing out and losing air, but I thought that particular problem had been sorted out ages ago.

1st thing to check is that the air isn't leaking out through the valve - bit of spit on the valve and look for bubbles.

If it's a few years old, it could probably use a service in any case which should resolve the issue.

Yes check the valve - it might even just be that the valve core needs tightening - a core tool can be bought for next to nothing but is very handy - mine has also sorted slow leaks on the car on more than one occasion..

If it needs a service, it’s not an overly complicated procedure (if you have the correct equipment).

RockShox have released videos on how to do it on YouTube too.

Thanks for all of your replies.

@nickfrog, I have a cable actuated Brand X on my enduro bike, but prefer the hydraulic reliability for XC racing - thanks though, Brand X do a fine product

"@Rick Draper", I'm not sure. It's externally routed and has the valve cap underneath rather than up near the saddle. Is there a way to tell which version it is?

@tillydog & @timbog160, thanks, I'll check the valve. I think it's something internal as the action is not smooth any more and fells gritty and stiff

@mtbqwerty, thanks I'll check the youtube vids out and see if I feel like venturing into self service.

If I chose to send it off to someone for a service, do you have any recommendations?

Many thanks!
