Got a reverb fitted on my new On One and I was expecting great things from it but the lever is just awful, is it just me or is it more than likely a setup issue?
When I press it the seat does drop/rise but there's no give in the lever at all, I expected a bit of movement akin to my Brand X on my other bike but all that seems to happen is the lever just moves around and I have to tighten it up back in position again?
Something is very wrong... Have you read the instructions 😜.
Pinched hose ?
<span style="font-size: 0.8rem;">Try adjusting the speed ?</span>
Mine moves a good inch.
Didn't come with a manual, not sure if this is standard PX service.
Will have a look at the speed thanks!
You are easing your weight slightly out of the saddle when you press? it's a bit like easing off the pedals as you change gear. If I sit dead weight on mine the button is difficult to press.
TBH not really sure what you're describing? Cable posts often have a little slack in the cable which creates some "give" or dead space in the lever before anything happens, hydraulic doens't feel quite the same. But do you mean the lever is moving on the bars? Or it's not returning after you push it?
There are alternative Reverb levers but it definitely sounds like something's just wrong with yours

standard PX service would be to try and push a gear inner down the hydraulic hose, then give up leave it all disconnected inside the frame and push it out the door anyway. If yours works at all, even badly, then you have received the gold service
Google Reverb user manual. They don't tend to put paper instructions in nowadays.
What type of Reverb remote is it?
Does it have the push button type remote, or more of a shifter type lever (new "1x" lever)?
Push button remote

1x lever

If push button, is it mounted over or under the bar? RockShox intend they go over but almost everyone puts them under to avoid snapping them when flipping the bike over and under the bar they are bit easier to push with thumb in my opinion. Though under bar has to be opposite side lever to where it goes over (RH lever goes under on left for example).
Also with the push button, how is it attached to the bars? Its own clamp, clamped to brake direct if a SRAM brake, MMX or some other attachment to brake or gear shifter?
Though however it's clamped, have you got it attached correctly? It shouldn't move on the bar when you push it.
The push button remotes tend to be a bit squishy and not much travel in the button. Although this depends how well bled it is. Does the seat go up and down quick/easy, or is it slow? Try adjusting the speed adjuster on the remote. Otherwise it might need bleeding if the seat is not quick or difficult to drop/raise.
If the 1x style lever, don't know as haven't got one, but I'm under the impression they're easier to use.
Manual (in true confusing fashion, covers multiple models) -
Loads of other manuals inc service for various models - https://www.servicearchive.sram.com/service/rockshox/50
Obviously personal choice but I found the push button far better and more reliable than the 1x lever.
The original remote is a thing of absolute design wonder, literally works best fitted upside down and on the wrong side.
It's the 1X style lever, seems like a really bad design in that it has a bolt you loosen off to change the way the lever is pointing but the first few times I used it I simply pushed the lever and it came loose and just spun backwards. I didn't want to over tighten it though for fear of stripping the bolt or it snapping if I push the lever too hard.
Had one of the older ones a few years back and the button system seemd far better IMO

😂 Very true.
I also prefer the original button remote. I find the flapper levers tend to need a fair bit of thumbage-throw to get things moving.
I’m confused, to the best of my knowledge there is no bolt to loosen off to change the position of the lever, there are 2 mounting options and that is it. If you’re loosening something to reposition the lever (I can only think that this is the bolt that attaches the lever to the body) then I’d suggest that this is the source of the problem.
working correctly the lever is in a fixed position, you press it and the post moves. If set up right it’s a lot better than the original button.
Have had them both and found the button version, upside down, was easiest on my arthritic thumbs. Now have the electronic wireless version and it’s miles better.
Agreed... AXS is the nicest operationally, but the button requires far less effort and movement than the 1x lever. I never understood why they decided to.mimic the function of a cable-actuating lever when the button/plunger did such a good job.
Each to their own though...

If you unbolt the unit from the bar clamp there is a hex bolt in the top which holds the lever on underneath

Indeed - I've had real problems with the old style reverb control after a thumb injury (whereas my cable operated under bar levers are still fine)

Yes, holds the lever on, but not intended to be used as a lever position adjustment which seems to be what the OP is suggesting. If this has been loosened then the lever will not function correctly.
I didn't intend to use it as a position adjuster, it's just the first time I used it the lever just simply spun around so I had to use this to fix it back in position
