I'm looking at getting a Reverb for Mrs NBT - Due to issues with previous injuries, I would prefer to mount the lever on the right, as she finds it easier to use that thumb.

I'm aware that it's *possible* to mount levers on the opposite side to that intended, by mounting them under the bars. All the pics I've seen though have been right hand levers mounted on the left. I'm just wondering if anyone's mounted a right hand lever under the left - does it interfere with brake levers and shifters? Mrs NBT's running Hope tech levers and SLX shifters with no windows. Sadly I have no pics to had to show the space available, but if you've done this and have pics I'd appreciate it if you could share them cheers

I'll see if I can sort one tonight. rosie is using the th lever upside down on the left but is using tech levers and windowless xt shifters. I know it's the opposite to what you asked but the kit looks symmetrical and is similar spec.

Ta. I'm concerned also about it getting in the way as you use the right hand shifter a lot more than the left., ehnce why I gues most people mount a RH lever on the left as yo;ve done

correct, that's why we went that side but it doesn't get in the way of the shift lever the way we've spaced it out.

I use a right lever on the left, with SLX shifters (no windows) and Formula The One brakes. It gets in the way of the shifter a little bit, not enough to be annoying 'cos I don't use the front one that much. It might be a different matter on the right though.

I've fitted a left hand reverb remote on the right, under the bars. It fits well, with no probs. I had already removed the displays from the shifters and mounted them outside the brake levers.

I have to move my hand to press the remote lever, but you get used to it. And I'd rather have easy access to the brakes and shifters.

See flickr links for some pics of the reverb remote (hope the links work):

Hope that helps...

Cheers, that's exactly what I was looking for - your control setup is very close to Mrs NBT's

I ran mine on the left under the bar with a shifter. It was useable.

But if I was starting again I'd get one on top of the bar, the angle just doesnt seem quite right under the bar, like my thumb tries to push it sideways rather than in.

Turns out the 125mm drop versions I was looking at have all sold out overnight anyway. GRRRRR

I had mine set up like waspfactory for a short while (inboard of the controls) and it was awful, hated it. The remote has to be right by the grip IMO, even more so for a girl with smaller hands.

okay, I can see that. That'd work too as there should be room inboard of the controls

I have tried numerous configurations with SLX shifters.
For me it needs to be mounted in the sequence grip>reverb>shifter>brake.
That leaves two options: reverb left & under or right & over.

Left & under = the reverb button needs a downward push and this feels awkward.
There was slight fouling of the reverb boot on the shifter lever too, not sufficient to prevent operation though, just a bit anoying.
The lever seems to suffer more damage in an under-the-bar/upward-pointing config too, based on experiences of a handful of folk who have broken levers.

Right & over = the reverb button follows a natural forward movement with the thumb.
Counter-intuitively perhaps, I think the lever is actually better protected in this config too, as it's less likely to suffer knee-stike.

By the way, I didn't quite get your question? You're wanting to mount on the right, yet your question is about mounting on the left?

Due to issues with previous injuries, I would prefer to mount the lever on the right, as she finds it easier to use that thumb.

I'm just wondering if anyone's mounted a right hand lever under the left

If you meant asking about mounting a right hand lever under the right?, then Yes that's how I have mine (XT brakes/shifters). One issue might be whether mrs NBT's index finger is strong enough to easily activate the remote.

ecky-thump, there is a third option, have you tried right and under? 🙂

Thought process and simultaneous typing FAIL on my part sorry.

I'd prefer that the lever was on the right. Most people buy a right lever and left mount it underneath, and I must have been concentrating too much on that. I was wondering about buying a LEFT lever and mounting it under on the RIGHT as in this pic from waspfactory191

Having said all that, I was aiming to get the 125mm drop version with a LH lever, but they've all sold out, so I might just get a 100mm drop RH lever and top mount it as intended

Ok, I bought a right lever with the intention of mounting upside down on the left (for the reasons already mentioned)with XT brakes/shifters. It didn't fit. I could have done something along the lines of what ecky-thump alludes to ie mounting verticalish, but that's no good. I mounted it inwards of the controls as per waspfactory and hated it (I can go into the reasons if you want).
Finally, very happy now with right lever mounted under the right. If I could go back, I would buy a left lever and mount under the left, but it's not that big a deal.

Managed to find the right post (30.9, 420mm, 125mm drop LH lever) for £180 in the CRC refurbs section. 10% discount brins it to £162 for a post that has a full guarantee. Would be rude not to, really. It can always go back if it doesn;t actually fit, although at that price there may be others interested in buying it!

this pic from waspfactory191

That looks like an unusable setup to me, the reverb lever is miles away from the hand

Haha. Yes it is. But the brake and shifters are right where they are supposed to be and I can use them easily without moving my hand. They are critical for good control, at all speeds.

The reverb requires hand movement, but that just means I need to think ahead for those occsaions when I need it.

Using the reverb has taken a bit of getting used to anyway, after all those years of dropping the saddle with the QR.

Same as Waspfactory here, I have a LH remote under on the right. X9 shifter and Hope X2 lever. I have to move my hand slightly to get my thumb on it, but it's pretty easy to do now that I know intuitively where it is. I tried, and failed, many times to find a way to get it within easier reach, and it isnt worth sacrificing brake and shifter ergonomics to do so.

The Joplin and X-Fusion remotes are smaller and didnt have this issue, but it's worth it for an upgrade over my old Crank Bros post.
