So, old Reverb died and they sent me new one, awesome, except after 2 rides this one is playing up in a new way.

Goes down OK but it won't return with me pulling up.

Any ideas or is it another return/warranty job?

Cheers

Check it has air in it, if not pump it up and see if it leaks.

not actually checked that yet, but it seems really stiff in going down too.

Seat clamp too tight, crushing the tube?

How do you mean, push the button and it wont come up or pull the seat and it wont come up?

Funny things these Reverbs. You either need to blow air into them or bleed it out. 😆

I had that after I shortened the cable. Quick bleed following the instructions and been good since.

Bleeding will not solve this.... the hydraulic system only operates the switch. The air in the airspring inside the shaft is what makes it go up and down.

Check you have not over tightened the seatcollar. Use assembly paste and torque according to instructions, or tighten until you can't twist the post by hand.

Yeah, it's not over tightened because even out of the seat tube it happens. I assume the cold weather would have nothing to do with it?

same with mine last week, got the kit to bleed it and checked the air first, less than 30 psi. seat only returns 3/4's and you have to pull it up then. put 250 psi in and its fine now, too stiff if anything.

I assume the cold weather would have nothing to do with it?

For a fixed quantity of gas in a fixed volume, as the temperature drops so does the pressure. So yes the cold weather will play a big part on how a the seat post works, especially with the small volume of air it uses.

Just to add the schoolboy Maths for those who care.

The relationship for an ideal gas is PV=nRT

P is pressure - the variable we are looking at
V is volume - a fixed conastant
n is the quantity - a fixed constant
R is the universal gas constant, just a number
T is the temperature - the variable the weather is changing

To keep the equation in balance you can see that when temp goes down, pressure goes down.

Oh, and not to mention that cold weather will make all the lubes that little bit more sticky and less effective.

Maybe take the post inside and let it warm up and see if it works then?

I had the same problem. Stiff down, not fully returning. Air pressure fine. A quick bleed fixed it. Easy to do too
