Has anyone tried to fit a reverb hose inside the holes that take the cable from the specialized seat post?
It looks very tight. Thanks Chris.
Hi Chris, as far as I'm aware from reading other posts on different forums, the cable guides on the old style Camber are too small for a Reverb (they are designed for the Specialized Command Post which is cable-actuated and thus has a slightly narrower cable run than hydraulics).
I'm not sure about the newer (2013+) model Cambers though. I'd also like to know about any potential workaround that people have managed to do because I'd like to stick a dropper post on my 2012 Camber at some point this year.
I have a reverb on my 2011 camber, just using the dropper guide clips.
You can drill out the stops carefully if you want to fit a Reverb . As hes been said it is designed to take a cable operated dropper .
Are we talking about the cable clips that fo along the top tube? If so I can't see the issue.
Its a 2013 camber expert and the dropper post cable goes inside the top tube, its carbon so i dont think i will be drilling.
Thanks all, so far.
Its the same on the stumpys and enduros. I think alot of guys use a bit of sandpaper on say a drill bit to open the hole slightly to fit the hose. Dont actually use a drill - Just the bit with sandpaper wrapped round it to make the hole slightly bigger.
Edit: ^^^ Thats with the carbon frames.
It's not the actual hole in the frame it's a stop inside it so no structural issues with enlarging ,a fine file or a dremel is safer than a drill though . Having said that the new Thomson dropper post is really smooth and totally free of play and IMO better than the reverb and would fit your frame without modification .
Got a 2013 camber - alu frame though - and as above, opened the hole up.
From memory it's about 4.5mm as standard, and a reverb hose is 5.5mm
Used a hand reamer to give a nice clean finish. (Benefits of working in an engineering company.....)
Can't see how they will ever tell I've done it (without measuring) if I ever needed to warranty the frame.
Newer ones with the revised internal routing just uses guide ports/blanks which are plastic so much easier (and less scary!!) to do than the actual frame.
