Hi All,

Wondering if someone can help give me a stepped guide to sorting the issue out that I have:

Yesterday whist riding I had a bit of a balance moment, so much so my leg swung around, kicked the cable of my reverb (near the top), unfortunately I broke the hose away (snapped barb & lost the strain relief).

Replacing the barb & strain release and barb is not a problem, but I am not sure where to start in getting the fluid back in and doing a bleed?

The seat is stuck right down (due to the air pressure) and if I let the air out I can get the seat to return to the top, but with air in it, it stays stuck down and when bleeding it says the seat post needs to be at the top? So...

Will I need to refit the hose first and then 'refill' the fluid that was lost when the hose became disconntected, then do a system bleed?

Or?????? What?

Any help on where to start would be great? I have watched the videos on how to bleed the system and how to refit the hose, neither of which seem an issue.

Help me please!

I also performed an unintentional hose removal while inserting my handlebars forcefully into the ground a few weeks ago.

I had worked out that my barb seems to be snapped, but what is the "strain relief"? Can't see any missing bits on mine but concerned now.

I replaced the lost fluid by performing a bleed, as on the SRAM video you mentioned.

It worked but the hose won't stay on so I was just about to order a replacement barb.

I have managed to sort mine now - just a little faffing and I worked it out.

Do you have a 2011 or 2012 post?

The 2011 post has a rubber 'strain relief' (boxy looking thing under the seat post that the hose goes in to) & the 2012 has an aluminum screw on strain relief.

I looked around and I couldn't find the rubber strain relief anymore and on research it appears that is the bit they changed/redesigned for the 2012 post (must have been breaking the barb on a regular basis like you and I).

Regardless of whether you have the 2011 or 2012 post I would go for the newer design. The barb screws in to the hose and then the strain relief screws on to the barb (Seems considerably better/stronger!).

This is what you are looking for:

Ah righto, you did the seat end - it's the remote end on mine.

Just a new barb required then I think - cheers for that.
