By quite I mean I can physically pull it up a few mm more than it comes up on its own
is this normal?
I have bled it and all seems good

I noticed a tiny bit of play in mine too but have put it down to play between bottom seal and cir-clip. Be interesting if anyone else has this same problem.

Chunky - yup think you may be right
It was below 200psi, although some may have escaped fitting the pump.

yup, same problem. i think i had overtightened the seat clamp.
loosened the seat clamp very slightly and now it returns the full height.
