Are there any discernible differences between a 2012 and a 2013 model out of the box?

2013 - 90% chance of working out the box
2012 - 60%
2011 - 20%

As far as I am aware the visual differences happened between 2011 and 2012 (black collar vs silver, metal hose barb instead of plastic). Chatting to a SRAM tech a few internal changes were made in the 2013 version but did not go into details.

My 2011 has been back to SRAM x3 times now. The 2012s are much more reliable but still have problems and the 2013s I am not sure about.

You only really hear from those who have had problems, mine has been fine and the service by TF once a year faultless.

Currently have a Gravity dropper on one bike and that's pretty reliable if you service it regularly. Still baffles me how they can charge so much, 'cause when you strip it there isn't a lot there!

Fingers crossed that Im one of the lucky few with a working one out of the box.
