My post has about 2-3mm of squish
I've just went through the procedure as per the sram video guide.
But it's not getting rid of the small amount of squish. I'm fairly certain that there was absolutely zero up and down movement when it was new. Its certainly had nowhere near the 50 hour service mark of use either. less than 20 hours riding time on it.
Anyone else experienced this?
I've not...have you tried turning bike upside down, drop post, turn bike back over and release? Probably won't work...
Do you have a reverb axs?
Yes, had the exact same thing, had to send it back to the retailer, it was replaced with a new unit under warranty.
No problems with either of mine, similar usage to you. Like new in fact.
Liftman - have you had reason to use the vent valve on the new unit? is there any up and down movement at all?
Tomhoward - do either of your posts have any up and down movement at all? have you needed to use the vent valve feature yet?
I meant to ask if anyones used the vent valve - when i turn the post upside down and press the valve and compress the post, the post barely compresses. Feels like it only moves a few millimeters, when i turn it right side up and press the axs button it does extend but only by a few mm
on the sram video it looks like it compresses a lot more. Liftman - was this your experience?
With the old post exact same as you, 3-4mm of movement, tried the vent valve and it didn't move much like yours.
I think he vent valve is for when there is a lot of squish like the normal reverbs used to get.
The 3-4mm movement is a different fault from the squishy reverb problem which is why I think they replaced my original seat post.
Replacement post has no vertical movement.
I experienced the same. Using the vent valve tool had no impact. Replaced under warranty. It was done quickly and direct to my door from SRAM.
I've had squish in my AXS Reverb, about 10mm or so, used the vent tool and it's been fine since.
Never had any issues with the slight play you mention.
OK thanks for the input folks.
Ive just emailed the German bike shop I bought it from and they've sent a blunt reply saying send it to sram UK. I understand it staying in the UK would be the quickest turn around but sram don't deal direct with customers.
Any one have experience of say Evans obliging returning something to sram if I ask politely and over to cover any postage or admin costs?
I'm a bit remote here with no real Lbs but there's an Evans half an hour away in the car.
Or do I insist the German retailer take it?
SRAM do deal direct...as in, you can send it directly to them and they'll send it back repaired or a replacement.
The warranty SRAM gives is 2 year global, so you could be in any country and develop an issue and the 'local' SRAM dealer should be able to assist by sending it back to their SRAM office. In the UK, SRAM seems ok with the customer sending back to them directly (or they have in my experience).
Nope, no up or down movement (unless I press the controller, obvs 😉)
That's interesting dickbarton, I've heard mixed experience of this.
I emailed zyrofisher/sram tech UK and they stated in the email the don't accept direct returns.
Do you maybe have a different email address for them than the one I used?
I suspect it might have been due to the volume of returns...I'd had 7 Reverbs in 4 years, so suspect they were just sending a new one out as soon as contact was made.
I did have issues with some Guide RS brakes and went to a bike shop (that I didn't buy the bike from), they contacted SRAM, removed brake and sent it away...it was back 4 days later.
If you have no luck dealing direct with SRAM, then any bike shop that deals with SRAM can send the item back - the shop may charge for any work they need to do to remove/install the part though.
Thanks folks I've managed to get a return to sram sorted via a friend.
Fingers crossed it pans out ok
I've just heard back from the shop. Sram have said the post seems to be 'working ok'
I've yet hear if that means they are saying there is now some how zero vertical movement on it.
It feels like I'm about to be fobbed off with some 'its within spec' response.
Anyone who had this issue warrantied have this initial response from sram?
Sherlockholmes did you get this sorted?
I’ve got the same on mine vent valve doesn’t appear to do anything so got 2-3mm vertical squish and a bit of side to side play but can really feel it through the saddle climbing
