Before I buy one, will i also need to buy a separate bleed kit? I have a connectamajig on the post end, will i need to buy a barb thing for the new lever end as well? Or does the hose just push/twist into the 1x lever? Anyone know if it comes with hydraulic fluid in the box?
Cheers!
Not sure what comes in the box, Reverbs of old used to have a bleed kit and oil included, but I’ve not bought one for years. You will need a Reverb specific bleed kit if not included in the box as the x1 lever port uses a proprietary bleeding edge connector (different to the brakes one).
More to the point (and I can see the Reverbs can be had cheap at the moment as discontinued) why are you not just buying a OneUp for the same money, much more reliable and similar price? I like the Reverb x1 and always found the hydraulics reliable and the x1 lever has a nice feel, but the actual posts are so flipping unreliable.
Buy a bin to put it in. Hydraulic actuation for a dropper 😂😂😂😂.
Buy anything but that, Fox Transfer are cheap ATM.
Brand X is fine or even One Up if you really want to spend more than needed for no benefit.
Don't buy it and buy something that works reliably. They're so unreliable that Rockshox have given up trying to get them to work and stopped making them. Fox transfers are currently cheap and feel lovely, brand x are cheaper still.
Because I have a reverb which has worked faultlessly for years I just want to change the lever to actuate it and can’t afford to replace it and don’t want to?!
Are you saying that you are not buying a Reverb but are replacing a plunger type lever with a 1X lever?
If so the 1X lever should come with the bleeding edge adaptor in the box and you will need a Reverb bleed kit to fit it to.
The levers unscrew and screw on to the hose.
I just so happen to have removed a Reverb 1X post from a bike yesterday.
There's a locknut on the end of the lever(10mm I think)and a screw in barb (T25) for the hose.
You'll need the Reverb bleed tool to get it bled up and working.
@Rubber_Bucaneer and @singlespeedstu thanks, yes that’s what I wanted to know thanks 🙂 I’ve never had any problems with the post, maybe I’ve just been lucky, just want to swap the lever.
Thanks for all the other “peak single track” answers too….
No worries. Your original post did infer you were buying a post. Glad to hear you've been lucky with yours. I still think they're one of the most bonkers idea for a bicycle when cable actuation is clearly the way to go.
Yep definitely comes with the bleeding edge tool so as long as you’ve got stuff for a standard bleed then you’ll be fine.
Be careful to follow instructions as the 1X lever has a fancy nut on the bleed port that you don’t need to remove for a bleed - you just loosen it about 3/4 turn with the bleeding edge adaptor in. Make sure the adaptor engages with the nut fully otherwise it’ll leak everywhere.
