I've finally decided to bite the bullet and replace the woeful Motion Control damper in my 2018 Revelation with the Charger 2. Would replacing the Debonair also be worthwhile or is it the same across the range?
Many thanks
Yes. The 2019 Debonair spring has a larger negative volume which means more plushness/small bump sensitivity.
Definitely do the air spring at the same time. I had a moco Yari and swapped to charger 2 and debonair at the same time. Whilst the fork wasn’t awful before it’s a lot better now.
Great, thanks for the replies.
Also, if it’s like the Yari it’s quite easy to do. The damper just comes out the top of the leg and you pour the oil out. You need circlip pliers to remove the rebound piston from the bottom.
With the air spring you again need circlip pliers to remove the old one and put the new one in. You just need to be careful not to scratch the inside of the stanchions.
I changed the main seals and foam rings whilst the legs were off. I have to admit to bodging them in and out. Next time I change the seals I’ll get the proper unior seal driver to put new seals in I think.
Thanks for the advice Joe. I've got to admit that whenever I've taken forks apart previously I've always bodged in the wiper seals. I think the proper driver is just a lump of plastic so seems like a bit of a con (happy to be told different).
I just found the seal was really hard to get in. Ended up using the old seal as a driver to tap in but it wasn’t ideal. I think the proper driver would have made it easier for £10.
