Long story short, and vague details intentionally, I am in a position where I will be warrantying part of my frame which is invisiframed. Now I would like to invisiframe the replacement part of the frame, and want to check if anyone has ever removed and reused invisiframe before (or Heli tape, which I assume is similar stuff).

I expect I just need to hairdryer it off, try to keep contamination minimal and apply to the new frame as you normally would.

I have asked invisframe, their answer was to purchase a new kit. Which I have to say, are actually very reasonable when you compare to heli tape. It’s still £40 I would prefer not to spend though.

not a chance in hell. It will stretch when you try and remove it and be all distorted and the adhesive wont work as well second time around.

Buy some generic PU tape ~(3M or otherwise) and make some templates from what is on your frame now so you can cut some new bits to match.

Your chances are somewhere between zero and none.

I thought you were supposed to use a hairdryer to get it off - this should prevent paint removal - still don’t think you’d have much chance of reusing it though!

Is that stuff not just clear vinyl? i.e. stickers before the print a logo on?

Like £10 for a massive roll?

bike stuff is such a rip off

I tried a DIY approach - it looked it. Radiuses (radii?) were rubbish cut by hand, edges weren't straight.

For the time it'll take you to use the stretched bits that have come off to try and make new matches etc I'd just suck up the extra £25 and get the right kit for your frame.

The proper stuff was polyurethane based not vinyl, The 3M stuff is about £40 for a 3m roll 100mm wide. I think you can get it from Viking?

The stuff sold on ebay is usually 3m protective tape, which actually means your getting 3m of thick clear (probably vinyl) tape, not 3m of 3M 8671 tape.
