The wife has expressed a preference for a bicycle along these lines from the olden days.
I fear it may weigh a ton. It wouldn't see anything more strenuous than a towpath, but can anyone suggest anything else along those lines?
Requirements are that it isn't complicated ("I can't work gears") and preferably a basket.
This is not a piss take either.
the dawes diploma is a very tidy bit of stuff solf a few with very happy customers.
Dutch bikes are about as upright and traditional as you can get

They're all the right sort of thing, thank you.
It makes me a bit suspicious that none of them tell you the weight! Get what you pay for I suppose.

Or for the full retro number you can have the rod-braked step through bike I found in a hedge
I've got the Gentleman's Globe Daily 1 (yes I know, I know) that CFH has mentioned...
It's ace, and you can get a bottle of wine and a takeaway in the basket - which is more than I can say for some of the carbon monstrosities I've pottered around on in the past.
Spesh/Globe do a nice one. Daily is the name, I think.
Daily One is a very nice bike - looked at one for my mum - in the end bought her an Ridgeback Avenida 3 Womens..
Specialized/Globe is a nicer looking bike but got a better deal on the Ridgeback and the riding position is more upright which my mum liked
also got her one of these:

there is also the Charge Hob - single speed last year of 3 speed this year - but a bit over priced and no rack mounts etc

That Globe one is looking promising. Thankyou for all the suggestions.
rootes1: What bars are those? I have a need for some similar 🙂

This is a little confusing, as the spec regarding gears (or not) doesn't seem to tally up with the pictures. Or am I being dull?
