As per my SID vs Pike 120 thread, my SIDs went in for warranty.
I bought them (brand new) in January, but they were early 2021 forks (on offer)... after a while they started to suffer from busing issues.
It's weird - they started to feel like they were binding. It got so bad that towards the end - sitting on the bike wouldn't always compress the fork.
Took them in to Sprung Suspension near Cinderford - booked a 200h service (despite only covering 125h). Told them all about it, and had them have a look while they were on the bike. Lovely chap there - agreed that they felt sh*t. Suspected a loose bushing on the damper side, and tight on the air spring side.
They took them apart - decided that the best course of action was a warranty claim and sent them off to SRAM. I was anal about servicing and fluids etc, so obviously a very well looked-after set of forks. I guess that helped steer the conversation with warranty.
Just over two weeks later, SRAM sent a new set of SID 2024+ forks - result.
I paid for a new fork setup/tune - just wanted to make sure the new ones were actually in spec and smooth (which they were after a bit of work).
So it all worked out, although I was slightly bereft of saddle time... and the Pikes that I ordered from Merlin never turned up so I guess I'm not out of pocket. 👍
Phew.
Good result! in terms of the other thread and similar fork options - i'm now set on the new Reba Gold recently announced, cheap-ish, 35mm stanchions and improved spring/damping. Still light enough too. Hope these new forks are more reliable!

These 140mm Pikes are going for £430, plus you might want to change the travel to 120 - an air spring piston is about £35.
Not bad value considering there are various eBayers asking for £400 for used ones. https://www.merlincycles.com/rockshox-pike-select-charger-3-boost-forks-29-317494.html
They have Pike ultimates for sale too but I wasn't keen on the buttercup thingies - easier to service without them, plus they add a bit of weight.
Keen to know how you get on the Reba Golds if/when you get them.
Anyway - if it weren't for that faff, I'd have some brand new, uncut SIDs for sale. I guess it was fate.
Those Pike selects won't weigh hardly any more than the reba gold at 1750g (on r2 if accurate) plus a bit cheaper if you fit your own 120mm air shaft.Think pike looks a better option especially if an xc build that's a bit more capable
