A good friend of mine who into Road bikes....Mmm
has just stripped his bike to give it a good lease of life.
& er good ole' me is sparying it up for him.
I have no worries with ali,steel or even TI..LOL i wish ?
But do i need special filler, undercoat, primer etc etc !
Anyone tried it please ?
Any info as some guys says i need stretchable undercoat type paint ??
Are they pulling my P*ONKA `!
I asked this question once and was told to be carefull as some stripper/undercoat/paint chemicals can intefere with the resin in the carbon. Well worth getting an authority verdict. Especially a frame!
Skyliner..
Cheers as hes had the frame SODA blasted !!! At Birmingham cost him 80 notes & left it CLASS A condition its amazing !!
Said to him it would nice polished or just clear laquered !
But ..........NO LOL
I'd clear matt laquer it, thats what carbon is all about! The weave! 🙂
mm.
i think his is that oclv stuff looks like plastic in some places then has a slight weave going off in places ?
just use a plastic primer (aka, adhesion promoter) before you go on with anything else, should be fine.
Frames only have a nice weave on the top if the manufacturers have put a cosmetic outer layer on, most frames just look a bit of a mess without paint frankly!
No idea how to go about painting it mind!

Looks lovely Lardlover.
Thanks hopster. It looks better in the flesh. I'm just off to start building it up again...........
Do very much like Parlee frames, a lot lot lot!!
Ensure it's keyed well all over with a very fine wet n' dry.
THen use standard issue plastic primer and an acrylic paint to suit, finish it off with a good quality hard coat laquer and you're there, simples.

i'd probably go for a quick "grey" scotchbrite, followed by plastic primer.
i certainly wouldn't be using acrylic (1k) paint under it, as its terrible.
