So its come to that time where i need to service my shimano wheels and going to replace all the bearings in them as that seems the best idea given they are second hand and have no idea how long sinse they last serviced.
any advice where i can buy some bearings for my shimano XT disc break wheels from at a good price?
Just did this myself. Cheapest source of bearings was eBay - search for shimano bearings. Gu on there sells them and replacement axles
XT use Grade 25 bearings. Try SJS cycles.
Just replaced my rear ones. got the code number off the old ones and bought replacements off good old ebay
Simplybearings.co.uk are good - got a 50 pack of grade 10 1/4" bearings for about 11 quid if I remember rightly. Enough for 2 and a bit rear hubs.
omg so many types of bearings...

A wee tip for you if you find the bearing races are slightly pitted or marked in any way is to clean them up like new by applying a smidgeon of the finest car valve grinding paste to new bearings in a clean hub and spinning the axle for a while before cleaning out and repacking new bearings and grease into the hub. I've used this trick on older bikes where the owner didn't have the funds or the desire to build a new wheel or where the build involved a restoration project and they wanted to keep the original components.
