The future shock on my Specialized Roubaix needs replacing so I phoned up a Specialized dealer and they tell me the fork needs to be sent off to Specialized. They also want to charge me 1 hour labour (£55) to disassemble and reassemble.

Now I watched a few Youtube videos and it don't look very difficult to me - they only thing I haven't got is a Torque wrench but I reckon I get one for less than £55.

Anybody done this - was it difficult?

What year Roubaix is it? The only issue might be if it has a FS 1.0, which isn't produced anymore and will need to be replaced by a FS 1.5 which I believe is backwards compatible. If its 2021+ ignore the above.

Taking out the future shock is a piece of piss, if the shop want 1hrs labour to do what takes a max of 10mins tell them to jog on. You have to take it out to put the different springs in etc.

@anagallis_arvensis Do you know how easy it is to replace the boot. As the manual suggests its very hard and its a job I need to do due to a top tube bag rubbing.

I've not done that only changed the spring around once or twice.
