The GXP BB on my 1x11 Rival set up has just about died so -
1.I can replace it with a HT 11, yes?
2. As the BB is a 68 mm, I use the spacers, as directed, for 68mm BB, even though I have a single chain ring setup?
Ta.
1 = no
2 = 68mm bb shell/spacers are the same but the spline is different
3 = you need gxp
Arse. GXP are rubbish!
Cheers by the way. * sad face*
Hope+Gxp adaptor=happenis
Is the rival bb for 24mm axles like shimano or for 30mm? (not clued up on sram stuff)
If it is 24mm then you can buy a token HT2 bb and purchase the hope gxp adapters which will work and be a lot cheaper than a hope bb..... I have the same setup on one of my bikes for the last year with no issues.
Just jumping in here...
Are uberbike bbs any good? £37 or so for steel bearings.
Can you use the hope adapter on a shimano bb?
You cannot use the hope adapters on shimano or gusset bbs because they use plastic top hats that the axle sits onto..any bb that uses this design has a different internal diameter bearing of 25mm and the plastic top hats take up the other 1mm to allow the 24mm axle of shimano cranks to fit snug.
The problem is that eventually the top hats wear out eventually which leads to play/wobble from the bb/axle.
Hope use 24mm Id bearings so the axle sits directly onto the bearings which negates the plastic top hats.
Gxp cranks have the axle slightly smaller at the nondrive end to fit their (rubbish) bbs.. The hope adapters press into the nondrive bearing which allows the gxp crank to fit perfectly.
No experience of Uber bb as I have token bbs on all my bikes as they are nigh on identical to hope in how they work but almost same price as shimano
