The original was made of cheese and rounded when ive tried to untighten it. Silverfish are looking at 24 quid for a new one, which frankly is akin to theft!!
Anyone know if any other manufacturers will fit, or failing that can I use one of those basic split pins that some brakes use..or will that leaf to too much play in my pads.
I put a split-pin in my The One rear brake a few years back when I lost the pad retaining pin in the middle of a biking holiday, and ended up leaving it like that for months afterwards until the pads needing changing again. I’m almost certain it was a Hope pin I used as well, which was in a box of Hope brake spares. It certainly wasn’t a Formula one.
Thanks, I can get hold of a hope one for a few quid or take off another bike so I'll give that a go. Ta
If it is the same as a 'The One' brake pin I have a spare you can have. Send me a PM if you are interested.
An appropriately sized split pin will cost pennies and work just fine.
Struggled to find anything esle when i was looking, wanted allen head instead of torx for multitool reasons, didn't find anything else which would fit, thread is very odd. Lever clamp bolts were loads cheaper on french ebay if that helps, you could look there?
I know Shimano retainer screws fit Magura. I’d bet they fit Formula too.
